Last day in Lisbon 🇵🇹 before starting my trip into Spain 🇪🇸 to find a team to buy. I met with four local investors over the past two days and here’s the top four things I learned: 1) Being a foreigner was actually an advantage: I found that people were excited by fresh energy and an international perspective, which made doors open wider. 2) Local investors bring new revenue ideas: Investors deeply rooted in the local scene, shared revenue opportunities I’d never considered, and even better, have the network to bring them to life. 3) Valuations are changing fast: I learned that recent lower league deals are breaking old expectations. Crowdfunding has also entered the scene, pushing valuations higher. 4) Investor diversity: I thought local investors would have already done deals themselves, but I was surprised. From VCs to family offices to expats, many are waiting for the right partnership to get involved.
