I really think they need to find this young brother soon. 18-year-old Nolan Wells, he went on a trip with his friends on the 4th of July and never returned. If I'm with my people, we leaving together. If one of us go missing, ain't nobody leaving off that island until we find that person. This is why I tell people, especially Black people, you can't just move through the world thinking everything is changed and that it's okay now. Which one is Nolan? Um, take a wild guess. And this is the part that's making me frustrated. His friends thought that he caught a ride back with somebody else. The girl that he was talking to thought that he caught a ride with his friends. So, everybody assumed that they knew where he was, but nobody know where he at right now. The part that really makes me suspicious is that his phone turned up, but he's still missing. You can't move through the world just assuming that everything is going to work itself out. I don't care if you having fun, if you talking to somebody, if you tell me you going to catch another ride, okay, that's cool, but we going to make eye contact and say, peace. How is this boy missing and they don't know nothing about it? I'm not going to speculate no more. I'm not going to do no accusations right now. The facts are that this boy is still missing and his family deserves answers. So, prayers up to Nolan Wells and his family. I hope this story has an ending that we're all hoping for.

An 18-year-old Black college football player went missing on the Fourth of July, and I can’t stop thinking about how we have seen this EXACT situation time and time again. Nolan Wells disappeared after spending time on Horn Island in Mississippi with a group of “friends”. Search crews have been looking for him by boat, helicopter, drone… pretty much every resource they have. Meanwhile, his parents have barely slept. His mom is begging strangers to go through their pictures and videos from that day, hoping somebody caught something that could help bring her son home. I genuinely pray he’s found safe. But I also understand why so many Black people are watching this story with a different kind of anxiety. We’ve seen too many cases where Black families were left fighting for answers long after everyone else moved on. I immediately thought about Tamla Horsford. She went to a sleepover with a group of White friends and was found dead the next morning. Her death was officially ruled an accident, but years later people are still debating that case because so many questions never felt resolved for her family. I’m not saying Nolan’s case is the same. We don’t know what happened, and I don’t think it’s fair to make up a story before the facts are in. What I am saying is that history shapes trust. When you’ve watched family after family beg for answers, it’s hard to just sit back and say, “I’m sure everything will work itself out.” I really hope Nolan’s family gets answers soon.
