Carbs don’t make you fat. Only too many total calories does. As long as you're not eating above your calorie maintenance level, a higher carb intake won't magically cause fat gain. And if you're in a deficit, you'll continue to lose fat. The timing isn't an issue either, since it ultimately comes down to total energy in versus out over the day as a whole. I personally eat between 300-400 grams of carbs most days and stay lean year round, because I keep my total calories in check. The majority of that (around 80-90%) comes from minimally processed whole food sources to ensure fiber and micronutrient needs are met, and the remainder comes from whatever I feel like. Not only does no single macronutrient cause fat gain on its own, but no single food does either. If you just feel better eating low carb, that’s fine. But that’s a personal preference, not a requirement. Carbs are the body's preferred source of energy, and most people will experience better physical and mental performance on moderate to higher intakes. P.S.
