What if I told you... A leg press IS a squat pattern? It's the same general movement (knee extension + hip extension), except instead of being upright and pushing yourself away from the ground, you're horizontal and pushing the weight away from you. I'm not saying squats and leg presses are identical, but when it comes to building muscle, they're a lot more similar than most people think. I still do my regular squats (hack or pendulum usually), and they're included in the TrainWise programs as they're an excellent movement overall. But if for some reason you can't squat (such as an injury or equipment limitation), or just don't want to based on your individual goals and preferences, you can still build your quads very effectively with leg presses only. Squats are great, but there's nothing magical about them, and no individual exercise is an absolute must to build a great physique. P.S. To get everything you need for a leaner, stronger, more muscular body with just a few hours in the gym per week, TrainWise is the complete system that shows you exactly how.
