Nursing school is Fake

I was precepting a student nurse last night. He was following along with me and he was showing me what he had on his test. He had a test that was coming up and he was showing me his curriculum and he was also talking about how he's really nervous because he has the physical assessment test. I haven't been in school for a long time. I started nursing school back in 2015. So it's been about 11 years, but it just dawned on me that a lot of the stuff that we learned in nursing school was a waste of time and useless. Because this nursing student should not be stressed out about forgetting the steps in order. If you find two nurses, they will be doing their assessment two different ways. If you find a nurse and a doctor, they'll do their assessment two different ways. There's steps that you do not have to do because it just doesn't apply to them at all. But this nursing student is really stressed out because he's like, oh, he really needs to do his 40 minute assessment on every patient or else he's going to fail nursing school and he'll never be a good nurse. And I'm like, yeah, you need to get it right for your test. But once you graduate, it'll never be like that again.
