Craco is a medieval ghost town in the Basilicata region of southern Italy, perched on a 400-meter-high cliff. Once a bustling fortress village, centuries of devastating earthquakes and massive landslides forced its total evacuation in the 1960s and 1980s. Today, it remains an eerie, frozen-in-time ruin. While there are over 6,000 ghost towns in Italy, Craco looks especially dramatic because it was abandoned so abruptly. Remnants of staircases, crumbling towers, and domestic relics remain suspended on the crumbling cliff. #italy #facts #geography #disturbing #pov
