My biggest tips for year 12 as someone who's just finished year 13. My biggest tips for year 12 next year. 1. Stay organised. Firstly organisation in my opinion is key to success. So making sure you have everything you have each subject organised in a clear space with your resources organised from the very beginning. So important because you're going to get from a lot of work, okay? Like lot. You're going to have a lot of resources, a lot of content, especially for the very content heavy subjects. You need to have everything laid out so that you do not get yourself muddled. You don't want to have to sort that out because like six weeks in because it will build and it will build and it will build and you've got a mountain of paper and you don't know where to put it all. So yes, please stay organised. Use folders, use your laptop, use anything. Just keep everything for each subject labelled in one place. 2. Make use of your free periods. And that's not all of them, okay? Because it is nice to have time with your friends. But I highly recommend, like, use some of them. Use them to your advantage because they will be genuine lifesavers because the workload can be quite intense and can be difficult to keep on top of. So do use them. 3. Stay on top of your work. Next, I think this one's really important. If you miss a lesson, please make sure you catch up on that work before you go into the next lesson. If you don't do the lesson, it's a bit different. But if you're learning content, especially in subjects where there's a lot of exam technique, like I'm so glad I did, I did a lot of questions for psychology, which I'm so glad I did because again, it really helped my exam technique. So, just do the exam questions from the beginning. I promise it will be helpful. It's hard, but it's helpful. 4. Don't put too much pressure on yourself in the beginning. So, at the beginning of your 12, it can be quite humbling, I'm not going to lie, especially in subjects where you may have been getting high grades at the end of year 11, coming into year 12, and it's on to go a bit downhill. Don't put too much pressure on yourself in the beginning. It is going to be difficult at the start because you've got whole new content and you'll make lots of mistakes and that's okay. You will get better and it will come eventually. Just with time, you cannot expect to be perfect from the very beginning. 5. Start practice questions straight away. I recommend that you start doing practice questions as soon as possible. So especially in subjects with a lot of exam technique, I really do recommend that you get those questions from the very beginning so that you can get a grasp of what the mark schemes want, how to do them. Also, it's a good way to learn content as well. The questions can be a lot more complicated than the ones in GCSE. So for that reason, I do recommend that you get yourself familiar with them, even if it is just having the questions and understanding what's going on is so useful. And especially for subjects like biology, so vital. And I'm so glad I did, it also did a lot of questions for psychology, which I'm so glad I did because again, it really helped my exam technique. So, just do the exam questions from the beginning. I promise it will be helpful. It's hard, but it's helpful. 6. Make resources as you go. I recommend doing them as you progress with the content. So do not leave your resources to like, the last few weeks for the mock exam. I recommend doing them from the beginning. I promise it will be helpful. It's hard, but it's helpful. 7. Don't listen to people scaring you. Just don't listen to everyone who is scaring you and telling you that it's going to be terrible. Because it probably won't be. It will probably be absolutely fine. Okay? I love year 12. Year 12 was my favorite school year, no doubt. I found it so much better than year 11. And yes, there is a jump between GCSE and A level, but it is manageable and you have got so much time, okay? You have got time. You have lots of time. You don't have the time really to make loads of resources like you will have so much content. You will have so much and you just don't have the time really to make loads of resources. Like for me, for my resources, I used videos, I used textbooks, I used things that my teacher told me. And just having that all as you go along, so you do that. Your future self will thank you.
