I've come to the realization that there are so many hobbies I've always wanted to try but I've actually never made the time for them. Whenever I have a free day at home, I somehow end up doing the exact same thing every time. Grabbing my phone and doomscrolling TikTok. So I've made a goal to spend less time on my phone and more time exploring new passions. I'm calling it my hobby maxxing era. There's a whole list of things I've been wanting to learn, but the first one is crocheting. I've been obsessed with all the cute things people make online and recently came across TikTok and saw these adorable little pond coasters. I knew I had to try making one myself. So I picked up some yarn, found the tutorial, and now let's see if I can actually pull this off. Starting out was way harder than I expected. I had never touched a crochet hook before, and it genuinely felt like my fingers just weren't built for this. Every stitch looked different. I kept losing count and I had to replay the tutorial every 10 seconds. You can literally see how locked in I was here. But after a lot of trial and error, things slowly started to click. I definitely wasn't perfect, but seeing the coaster finally start to take shape was way more satisfying than I expected. I ended up finishing this over the course of two days, and here's the final result. It's the perfect little coaster for a drink, or even a cute spot to hold little trinkets on my desk. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out, especially considering this was my very first time crocheting.
