Don't be afraid to work at a call center, just don't waste your time at a bad one. If you're trying to start your career, you don't want to work in the trades, you don't want to be blue collar, but you don't really have any relevant experience and you're trying to get your foot in the door, a call center can be a great option. The key is that you want to look for jobs at companies that are B2B, rather than B2C. The experience that you would get at a B2C call center is not that valuable and honestly a lot of those are being phased out because they are more incentivized to replace customer service with AI. Whereas with B2B, regardless of what you might see online, they are not replacing their call center workers with AI because their clients are paying them hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars every year for their products and services, and when those types of contracts are on the line and there's certain SLAs that have been in place for years, they are not going to accept the people that they call when they need help being replaced by a fucking robot. If you land an entry-level job at a company that does something B2B, maybe they sell software, maybe they provide some type of professional services, you are going to learn the ins and outs of those products and services so quickly, you're going to become very well accustomed to the customer pain points, and you're going to have an insight into all of that that a lot of other people at your company that are more senior than you, that make a lot more money are not going to have because they do not have that day-to-day hands-on experience. And if you think you are a fairly intelligent and competent person, despite having any specific skills, once you get that experience from working in the call center, you are going to be primed to move up into so many different roles at that company. So don't be a doomer, don't spend 15 hours a day on Discord, start filling out some applications and get your life together.
