My DACA status expires today, which means that I can no longer legally work in the US. For those that don't know, DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. It's a US policy that was created by the Obama administration to protect undocumented immigrants that were brought over to the US as children. I myself was brought over from Mexico when I was around one month old, so pretty much an infant. And ever since then, I grew up and lived in New York City. It is not a path to citizenship and it does not give you a green card, but it does give you a working permit and a social security number. So you can go to school, you can pay taxes, but you're not a citizen. And for the first time, it fully expired on me. Normally it takes three to four months for your renewal application to go through. You have to pay, it used to be $300, now it's $600. But because of everything that's happening in the world and the administration, the federal government is having huge delays. Some people are waiting six months, some people are waiting eight months. I've even heard some people are waiting a year. And throughout that whole waiting process, you can NOT legally work. Which really fucking sucks, especially since I just got a new job three months ago and just became permanent with decent pay and benefits and stuff like that, which is something that being an influencer or content creator, you don't really have benefits. And, um, and I also lost another source of income. But, um, I'm not, I'm not sad or scared or nervous. It hasn't really fully hit me. I have been unemployed before. Fuck you Charlotte Russe, they were the first and only job to have ever fired me, horrible fucking company to work for, by the way. But that's a different story. But, um, financially, I have some savings, so I'll be okay for a couple of months. And, um, thank you to you guys, my supporters, especially on TikTok. I still have some money coming in. So, like I said, it just, it just really sucks because I have to put this new job on pause and although they did give me a leave of absence for three months, I don't know how long the renewal is gonna take. So I don't know what's gonna happen after the three months. It's either they can extend it or I guess they can get fired or laid off. And, you know, it just, it just really sucks. Um, pretty much it. If you have any other questions or comments, let me know down below. But, um, yeah, we just have to sit and wait.
