This is not an espresso martini but it is the espresso martini's non alcoholic and, in my opinion, tastier cousin the shakerato Shakeratos require two main ingredients freshly pulled espresso and then sugar Into our shaker tin I'm gonna add a double shot of freshly pulled espresso Freshly pulled is important for two reasons First of all, temperature When we shake our drink with ice here in a few moments we wanna make sure our shot is still hot so that our drink properly dilutes Second of all, we wanna make sure our shot is fresh and still has crema This is going to help us achieve that really frothy aerated texture at the end after we shake Now the second ingredient I am adding here is just sugar I'm using sugar in the raw here but you can use Demerara, you can use simple syrup whatever you like I'm using about 5 grams or a teaspoon of sugar for this serving but this is to taste use however much you want for however sweet you want your drink Now this last ingredient isn't essential but I do think it makes for a better drink if you can add it This is just a little bottle of saline or salt water I made this using a 1:4 ratio of kosher salt to hot water It's salty water and I'm adding about four drops Doesn't make our drink salty but it rounds out the bitterness of the coffee it glues all our flavors together just makes it a little bit better Add ice to the other side of your shaker Our first shake really nicely diluted and chilled everything and our second pass going to focus on aeration You can do a classic reverse dry shake by tossing this ice and shaking once more without ice or you can always use a handheld milk frother Guess which one I'm gonna do Just whisking and aerating for about 10 seconds then into our martini glass super smooth beautiful texture really really nice micro foam on this This is a texture and foam that is not impossible but definitely trickier to achieve without the second stage of dry shaking And as a nice finishing touch an expressed lemon peel Cheers So good My recipe for a shakerato might be a little bit more in depth than others but truly this is super tasty and genuinely most shakeratos that I've had are so whether you go with this one or just chuck some sugar and espresso in a shaker and go for it you'll have something that's pretty tasty regardless I'm gonna go finish the rest of this Cheers y'all, we'll see you next time
