I want to show you some of my moist favorite creative agencies. Today it's Hoodzpah, a brand identity and type design agency out of Southern California. Y'all, this team is consistently putting out incredible work. What I appreciate most is the range of stuff that they're doing. They do great branding and lettering projects, but they also wrote a book. They designed an online course for freelancers. They grew an online community of freelancers. They've got a type foundry. They run workshops and speak at events all over, and I'm sure a whole host of other things I haven't even found yet. Success leaves clues, and Hoodzpah has given us a roadmap. Typography is the fingerprint running through all their work. They bring letters to life and find ways to make everything they touch so frustratingly beautiful. Their work is full of personality. It's playful and fun and smart, and you can easily see they love to create and make really cool things. We'll just look at one project, Industrial Light and Magic, the ILM rebrand, and there's just so much to love here. You can see the way they paid homage to the marks that came before. And at first glance, the type seems simple enough, but oh look, it's also a film strip. Again, simple and so smart. Then they even push it further with the animation and layout, and I particularly love this little detail. All the cities in one illustration, each connected by a single thread. Hoodzpah is a team of five, and Jennifer and Amy Hood are the creative powerhouses behind the work. If you want to know what's cool, just look at what they're putting out. Go check out their website.
