as a chronic Real Housewives watcher this might be one archetype of housewife that we might not all agree on but the housewife that I call the People's Champ is the newbie, the underdog, the one that has to kind of prove that they deserve to be in the group. I think the people's champ gives the viewers like a sense of hope. As if the dominant forces on the show won every argument, they were always the center and nobody ever challenges them and what the show gets boring. I think there's two different types of this archetype. Some people are the newcomers and immediately the audience loves them. I think Stacy from Potomac is the perfect example. Now on the flip side, you have Candice whom she had a rocky start and I don't think that the viewers necessarily loved Candice on her first season. She definitely grew to be the people's champ because a lot of viewers started to feel like she was held to a different standard than her other castmates. I definitely feel like Angela Oakley is Atlanta's newcomer, people's champ. She really came out swinging her very first season and I don't think they expected her to be able to go toe to toe. I do think that Porsha is definitely the redeemed people's champ cause her very first season of Atlanta was rough, but season 6 and onward, I definitely think she redeemed herself on the show and people definitely started to root for her. Salt Lake City I feel like has this dynamic too. I think that Bronwyn immediately became the people's champ upon her first season on the show. Both Angie K and Mary Cosby had a redemption because Angie K's first season was like, it seemed like after that, the masses loved Angie with Mary her first couple seasons. Some people thought she was a little off putting, but I definitely think that Mary is the fan favorite now. On Miami's cast, I feel like Doctor Nicole was immediately people's champ coming out the gate because she was so heavily piled on on her first season. I definitely think that Guerdy is the redeemed people's champ. I definitely feel like more people were rooting for her as her seasons on the show went on. Now Beverly Hills to me, I think the people's champ is Garcelle. We know she came in as the first black woman on the Beverly Hills cast. She definitely was not very well received. We see how that ended up playing itself out, but she definitely had a lot of support from a lot of viewers. I know that's why I started watching Beverly Hills. Personally, I do not feel like the Beverly Hills cast has a people's champ that has been redeemed over the seasons. But y'all know for the most part, this is a Beverly Hills hate account and you know that's not one of my favorite franchises at all. So I could just be biased. I definitely find this archetype to be super interesting cause it really just shows that as viewers, our nature is usually to root for the underdog. And I also think it's interesting that it shows that viewers are not necessarily static like we might not like a housewife so much her first season and then 2-3 seasons down the line, she really might be the crowd favorite. But what do y'all think about this archetype? Did I nail it? Who did I leave off? Let me know in the comments.
