Here's everything you missed in pop culture this past week. Kris Jenner has sadly announced that her mother MJ has passed away at the age of 91. This announcement comes just 10 days short of MJ's 92nd birthday with Kris Jenner on her Instagram account with a photo of her mother and a lengthy statement of love, memories and anecdotes about MJ. Kim Kardashian has also spoken out on MJ's death giving her a very beautiful tribute on Instagram. However, Kim received backlash of course because at the same time Kris posted about MJ's passing, Kim had posted a lake life photo dump leading people to attack her in the comments. But Kim did respond that the post was scheduled days before they lost MJ, saying that her heart is with her family and that she was by her mom and grandma's side this entire week. After a few thank you next lyric changes and a ton of speculation, it was confirmed by TMZ that Ariana Grande and her ex Ricky Alvarez are officially back together. Ariana and Ricky were then spotted walking around New York City post Eternal Sunshine tour looking happier than ever and honestly I love this for her. Jay-Z just threw one of the biggest hip hop celebrations. List was stacked. Jay-Z's recent concerts at Yankee Stadium celebrated 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint, two of his most iconic rap albums of all time. Demand was so high that after announcing two Yankee Stadium shows, he added a third extra innings performance and then came a ton of guest surprises. Queen Bey, Beyonce, of course made multiple appearances throughout the run, but the internet completely lost it when Rihanna took the stage for her first live performance in nearly two years performing run this town with Jay-Z and bitch better have my money. And it didn't stop there because Eminem reunited with Jay-Z for their song Renegade, marking their first live performance together in years. And Alicia Keys, Nas, Usher, Teyana Taylor and so many more showed up turning the concerts into one of the most star-packed hip hop events in recent history. She has become only the second artist in MTV history to receive an Emmy nomination for choreography during an VMAs performance. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is off to an incredible start for its opening weekend earning close to $40 million in its first the worldwide box office. The film also debuted with a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes becoming one of Christopher Nolan's highest rated films, targeting a projected opening between $80 million and $100 million in North America and $200 million globally. I cannot wait to see it. In new album releases, Lana Del Rey has announced that she is releasing two new albums soon. Her upcoming album will be titled Stove and will have a companion album seemingly titled Spyda, which she describes and I quote, commentary of sorts on everything that has been going on. My girl Tyla has announced that her sophomore studio album A-Pop will release on July 24th featuring 14 tracks including Chanel, Is It Love and she did it again with Zara Larsson and I can't in the states now. And Tinashe announced her eighth studio album Pop Star will be released on September 25th with her doing crazy promo like her on the streets of LA smashing a car with a sledgehammer. I'm obsessed. And lastly, sad news as Oscar-winning actress famously known for her role as the Pigeon Lady in Home Alone 2 has passed away at the age of 81. Brenda won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1990 for her role in My Left Foot and was beloved by so many.
