Men’s fashion over 40, relaxed summer style and apparently enough joy to threaten the future of Dance music. I got an angry rant of a comment on my last Carpark Catwalk video that brought me to tears. Of laughter. Apparently, me expressing joy on here is the reason Dance music isn’t going to survive... which is quite a lot of responsibility to place on one man dancing in a car park wearing a blue linen shirt. I’ve also been informed that I’m an industry plant. First time in 29 years of being a DJ that anyone has said that to me. Maybe it’s the Vans. Anyway, while the future of an entire culture hangs precariously in the balance, today’s men’s summer outfit is a blue Zara linen shirt layered over the viral white COS slim ribbed T-shirt, with Uniqlo C wide sweat shorts, ASOS socks and black Vans Old Skool V trainers. The fit is relaxed, grown and simple, but the proportions stop it feeling boring. The fitted white tee keeps the shape clean, the wide shorts give it movement and the linen shirt adds a bit of structure without making it feel too dressed up. I’ve also brought an old pair of Tom Ford glasses out of retirement. I haven’t worn them in over a year, but this outfit needed the added menace. The truth is, I’m not making these videos for external validation from strangers on the internet. Carpark Catwalk is me documenting my style after major weight loss while trying to get into the best shape of my life, physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s men’s fashion over 40 without pretending I’m 25, Dad style without giving up personality, and proof that a casual outfit can still feel current, comfortable and like me. So I’m afraid this content-driven DJ will continue creating content because he enjoys it. Here's hoping Dance music survives the onslaught. Carpark Catwalk continues...
