Yesterday I was halfway through the Dad shop in Aldi when my agent called. Could I get to the Wirral in three hours to cover a DJ who had pulled out of a festival? Yellow labels abandoned. Home. Changed. Headphones and USBs grabbed. Straight onto the M6. Three hours later I was behind the decks playing Dance Music to a festival crowd giving it full send in the sun. Some people still think DJs should stand there looking mysterious while the House music is pounding. Even a few DJs have been giving me grief because I dance during my sets. Sorry, but I’d just gone from the middle aisle of Aldi to playing a last-minute festival. There was absolutely no chance I was going to play it cool. The DJ should never be more important than the music. Stop staring at the booth through your phone and lose yourself on the dancefloor. I play music for people to dance to, myself included. Bring back dancing to Dance Music. And if that bothers some bloke who played one DJ set in 1998, he must be fun at parties 😂 #DanceMusic #HouseMusic #DJTok #FestivalTok #BringBackDancingToDanceMusic
