The 10 lessons I learnt the hard way in my 20s, so you don't have to. Hi, my name is Nike and I teach you all things neuroscience. Let's do it. Number one, trust your gut above all else. If something feels off, it is. Number two, if it's between travelling and buying material things, travel. Travel is the highest form of education. You can't take things with you. Travel extensively in your 20s. Number three, to the ladies especially. Learn how to say NO!! without further explanations. No is a full sentence. Okay. Your time and your energy is to protect. No. 4. Become really, really good. Excellent. That one thing that makes you very valuable. That's how you build confidence. Number five, stop avoiding your bank account. Check your bank account three times a week, minimum, so you know where your money is going. This a big mistake in my 20s. Always check your account. Good or bad, you can see what's in there. Be very picky, and I mean very picky with who you choose to spend time with. You really do become who you spend time with. Your parents used to say, show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are. They weren't lying. No. 7. Don't beat yourself up when you make mistakes. Every mistake is a lesson you need to learn anyway. There's no as failure. Failure is just data. Make mistakes. Make big mistakes. You can always fix them. No. 8. Get out of your bubble as fast as you can. I mean this quite literally. Get out of your hometown in your 20s. Get out of your neighborhood in your 20s. The fastest success is to change environment. Mirror neurons, right? Do it. I left when I failed, I came back home. I left at 22, failed, came back home. I left at 24, failed, came back home. But I kept leaving. Leave your hometown in your 20s. No. 9. Learn to be happy alone with yourself. Do things alone. Travel alone. Eat alone. Go to the movies alone. Be happy with yourself. Fall in love with yourself because you're the only person guaranteed to spend life with. Learn to be comfortable with yourself. Last, but not least, be kind, not nice. I repeat, be kind, not nice. Learn the kindness and not niceness. It will save you a lot of heartache. This too shall pass is not a platitude, it's a fact. I believe in you and I pray you believe in yourself. Stay fabulous.
