Stromanthe Triostar Welcome to Plantasia, my home too. 405 houseplants. 405 houseplants. Every day I introduce you to one of those houseplants. In order as they sit on the shelves. If you follow along, you might learn something about each one. Let's go. The plant of the day for Saturday is the Stromanthe Triostar. She has my whole heart. She's my favorite houseplant and she knows it. I featured her before, but I forgot to label the video and people were having trouble finding it. So she deserves all of her flowers. So we're just gonna do this again. The Stromanthe Triostar is a member of the prayer plant family, Marantaceae family. And so she does raise her leaves at night as if in prayer. Just like the rest of the Marantaceae. She is fond of humidity. She needs more light than the average prayer plant because she does have so much white on her leaves and she has thicker leaves than most of the prayer plants. She likes very pure water with no minerals. That means distilled water, rain water, or reverse osmosis water only. She doesn't want tap water. You might be able to use tap water conditioned, I'm not brave enough to try that, but that might work for you. I have a reverse osmosis water filter on my kitchen sink. It works for me. She is a gorgeous girl. Check out these leaf backs. Oh my goodness. These are a lot more visible when she's praying at night. I mean, they're just stunning. She does get some crispy tips for sure. I think that's just a fashion choice. I'm not gonna argue with her on what she wants to do. She's constructing a second story right now. And that's okay. Until recently, she was only that bottom section. And now she's growing these huge long runners. I think that's how they propagate themselves. But yeah, she does what she wants.
