My kid texted me Marco so my phone would go off and I could find it, faster than with find your iphone! Full tutorial. This morning my Apple Watch is charging and I have to go pick up a kid so I'm running out to the car because I'm late and I look for my phone and I can't find it. So I go back in the house and I can't find it and so I yelled at my son to text me Marco and I don't hear anything. I walk around the house I don't hear anything so I open up the front door and that's when I see my phone in the driver's seat where I first lost it with the flashlight on playing the music of Into the Unknown. If you want to know how to set this up for your iPhone, I'll walk you through it. It's a popular iPhone automation and I'm going to go slow and answer all the questions I've gotten from the last time I taught this. This helps you find your iPhone whenever you lose it. Search for the Shortcuts app and then tap on the app with the two purple squares. This time we're not making a regular shortcut, so we're going to use the automations. At the bottom, tap the automation and hit the plus in the corner for a new one. And then from the list of automations, do the message option. It's what makes your phone watch for a text. First it asks who the text is from. It'll default to any sender, so leave it at that. So it works no matter who texts your phone. Now, tap Message Contains and select the word Choose. Type the word that sets it off. I use Marco. But pick a word that you'd never text or say by accident. Skip real names, skip everyday words. You could use something like Ollioxom Free. That's never going to fire by mistake, but it's a little harder to type, so you choose. Type your word and tap Done. This next screen matters. Choose Run Immediately, not Run After Confirmation. If you pick Confirmation, your lost phone just sits there waiting for you to tap on notification, which defeats the whole point. Run Immediately means it goes off the second the text lands, whether it's locked or not. Tap Next. Now we're going to be put in part of the app, and we're going to create a new shortcut. We will add four actions. Search for each one in the bottom search bar. First one. Search Flashlight and choose Set Flashlight On so it lights up and you can spot it wherever it is. Two. Search Volume and select Set Media Volume. It will default to 50%, but change it to 100. Three. You're going to add the same step you just did, Set Media Volume, and turn it to 100%, but select the blue word Media and change it to Ringtone. Media Volume is the one that plays over your Silent or Do Not Disturb. The Ringtone Volume alone will not do it if your phone's on Silent, so you need both. Four. Add Play Music and select the blue word. It'll open Apple Music for you to search and pick the song you want. Tap the Play button at the bottom to test it. And you're done. That's everything.
