pov: explaining javascript to people who don't code

Basically when you click buy now on a website it does something, that's JavaScript. It's an annoying pop up head, you can stay JavaScript. It took one guy at a company 10 days. It's also a very quirky language. How so? If you take the character 2 and the character 1 and you subtract it, it'll give you a number. Now if we go to the modern day, that same language that was written in 10 days, now has to be used to build a complex website like Google Maps. To address this problem, there have been many web frameworks that basically try and make JavaScript into something that is actually usable to make complex websites. How many frameworks are there? Oh no, not too many. As the major ones, probably like 20 to 30. That sounds like hell. Also in 2009 a tool came out called Node.js which allows your website code in JavaScript to also be written on the back end. Because the language was not originally equipped for what it has to do today, there's like a gazillion frameworks and ways of doing everything and it's kind of a clusterfuck. So is it a good language? Mmm.
