by far the worst banks to have right now in 2026 and unfortunately there's a good chance that you bank with one of them. Starting with number three on the list is Bank of America. Bank of America is going to give you 0.01% APY, which is nothing. They've also raked up $250 million in fines and for their checking account that you have open with them, just to have that open, they charge you $12 a month. No. 2 on the list, which is Citibank. And for their checking account, they charge a staggering $15 a month. This is avoidable if you know the rules but most people don't. City has also raked up hundreds of millions of dollars in fines. Last but not least, of them all, if you didn't know, well it's Fargo. If you didn't know, this bank actually opened up millions of fake accounts in customers names without their permission. That is a heck no for me. This company wanted to work with me and pay me a full year salary, I wouldn't even consider it. They just raised their checking account fee from $10 to $15 a month. And to dodge that, it used to just be a $500 balance, they actually just jacked that up to $1,500. Personally, I'm sticking with credit unions and online banks. I've been using SoFi for years and have nothing but good things to say about them. If you're looking to check out SoFi and earn 4.5% APY, comment the word bank below or DM me and I'll send you the link. Nobody's teaching this stuff, so I am.
