5 things I wish I knew before I got my conched pierced. The conch piercing is one of the most versatile piercings and one of my favorites that I have. I have a total of 13 ear piercings and my conch was like the third cartilage piercing that I got. And here's some things that I wish I knew before I got it. The first thing that I wish I knew is that you guys probably already know is that you have to get it pierced with a stud. I personally prefer styling my conch with a hoop, but when you first get a cartilage piercing done, they need to do it with a stud because it'll just heal better that way. Once it's healed, you can change it to a hoop, which brings us into the next thing that I wish I knew. It takes about nine months to a year for it to heal. Some people are lucky and can heal in like six months, but typically it's around nine-ish months and that's how long it took me. Next thing that I wish I knew is that it's a crunchy piercing, which means that when the needle goes through, you can kind of hear it because it's such a thick piece of cartilage. It doesn't necessarily mean that it hurts more than other cartilage piercings, but it's definitely something that I wasn't expecting. Last thing that I wish I knew is that it hurts less than my helix and my rook piercing. It's probably like a seven out of 10 whereas the helix for me was like an 8 or a 9. So it's really not that bad. Healing for all piercings kind of sucks, but it's really not that bad.
