I hear these statements all the time. As a father of two Gen Z children—and after spending nearly 30 years leading teams—I realized something important. Maybe the problem isn't Gen Z. Maybe it's our inability to understand their language. During my keynote at TECHNOVA 2026, I shared how Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) teaches us that communication isn't about what we say—it's about what the other person understands. Every generation develops its own language, values, motivations, and way of seeing the world. If leaders, parents, and managers fail to adapt their communication, we shouldn't be surprised when the connection is lost. Leadership begins with understanding before being understood.
