UG Speaks | People Join Companies... But Stay for Leaders One of the most interesting discussions during my live podcast with Ahmed Fozan at the Alkhidmat Summer Internship Program was about personal branding and leadership. For years, companies invested millions to build corporate brands. Today, something equally powerful is happening. People are becoming brands. Think about it. Most people know Elon Musk, even if they don't know every Tesla product. Many know Mark Zuckerberg because they associate him with Meta. The same principle applies inside organizations. Over my 30-year corporate journey, I have admired leaders whose credibility attracted exceptional talent long before their companies did. I spoke about leaders like Syed Ali Akbar, whose marketing vision transformed industries and whose leadership journey has inspired professionals across Pakistan. I mentioned Sami Wahid, a leader I deeply admire—not because I want to work for him, but because I would happily encourage my own children to learn from leaders like him. Years ago, many professionals also aspired to work with Asad Umar during his corporate career because of the reputation he built as a leader. That is the power of personal branding. Buildings don't inspire people. Office furniture doesn't inspire people. People inspire people. Organizations become great because great people build great cultures. The best leaders leave behind more than profits. They leave behind capable people, stronger teams, future leaders, and a legacy that outlives their designation. That is the kind of leadership we should aspire to. This short clip is from my recent live podcast with Ahmed Fozan at the Alkhidmat Summer Internship Program.
