Most people think they eat more variety than they actually do. Emily English, Bsc nutritionist and author behind two Sunday Times number one bestselling books, suggests one honest audit: photograph every meal and drink for a week, then look at the patterns. Most people are rotating through the same five or six vegetables. Tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, broccoli, carrot. Adding seasonal produce, almost always cheaper, is the easiest way to expand gut diversity without overhauling anything else. Variety does not have to mean complicated.
