HER FAMILY FOUGHT OVER ONE BLANKET FOR YEARS.
HER MOTHER TURNED IT INTO A BUSINESS
THE HEIRLOOM
Christina Livada's family shared a blanket, passed down through generations and fought over constantly. When her mother Beth couldn't find anything comparable on the market, she started ChappyWrap.
THE PRODUCT
The equipment to make something like their blanket no longer exists in America. Beth found a mill in Germany that could recreate the quality, and that partnership remains today, 20 years later.
THE BUILD
For ChappyWrap's first 12 years, Beth took a boots-on-the-ground approach: trade shows, school fundraisers. Christina often helped on weekends, but in 2018, she quit her job and joined full-time.
THE RELAUNCH
A year of rebranding followed. Everything changed except manufacturing. They relaunched in June 2019 with a DTC pivot, new website and expanded product line. The business picked up quickly.
THE LEGACY
Last March, Beth passed away from cancer. Christina and her husband Drake continue to run the business in her memory. Every employee learns about Beth, including the guiding principle: "What would Beth do?"
THE LESSON:
FIND YOUR EMOTIONAL CONNECTION
ChappyWrap didn't start with a market opportunity; it started with a blanket a family loved so much they fought over it. That emotional core is what made the product worth building a brand around, and what customers feel when they buy one. Authenticity isn't just a marketing strategy. It can be the whole foundation.
