This 160 year old Irish pub has survived so long by only having one item on their drink menu. Established in 1854 by Irish immigrant John McSorley, McSorley's Old Ale House claims historical figures like Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and John Lennon as fans. And recently, it was even featured in episodes of Saturday Night Live and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It also holds a lot of history right above the bar. We noticed a bunch of dusty wishbones hanging on a light and decided to ask the bartender Shane about it. In 1917, when the U.S. entered the First World War, each wishbone was hung up by a soldier going off to the war. And as they would return from the war, they'd come in and get their wishbone. The wishbones that remain above the bar are men that never made it back to take down their wishbones. So, what's this one thing on their drink menu? Irish Ale. Living up to its name, McSorley's Old Ale House only gives you a choice between light or dark ale, and it's definitely the secret to their enduring success.
