In 1992... Kenyan runner Josephat Machuka competed in the World Junior Championships 10,000-meter final in Seoul, South Korea. For most of the race... He battled for the lead with Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie. As the runners entered the final stretch... Haile surged ahead. In a moment of frustration... Machuka struck his rival from behind before crossing the finish line in second place. Officials immediately reviewed the incident. Machuka was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, losing the silver medal he had earned. The race remains a reminder that in sport, discipline and respect are just as important as speed.
