DIY WALL ART *part one.

Okay, ignore the boxes. We just moved. I want to try to DIY wall art for whenever empty walls in the hallway. I just couldn't justify spending anywhere near $500 to $1000 on artwork. When I could just try to do it myself and it would make our home more unique because I did it myself. I really hope that this does not go bad because I spent $200 on all the supplies including an Uber XL because this did not fit in my car. Let's get started. I want to do something like this. Let's see if we can kind of make that happen. The first, I'm going to start by taping it off. This is a 48 by 48 inch canvas. I'm going to try my best. I don't want it like so perfect. I wanted a little wonky, but not totally wonky to where it definitely looks DIY. I do want the outsides at least to be symmetrical. So I'm going to measure those. Okay. I don't know if you can see the tape, but I ended up just doing a lot of thinner lines all the way down. Now we're going to spackle. I ended up getting this big tub of spackle from Michaels and a cake spreader. A cake spreader. Now we're just going to spread it across and hope for the best. I really hope this works. I had just enough spackle to get through all of this. I had to start removing some of the tape because it was starting to dry down. Now we get to the satisfying part of removing all the tape. Okay. This is what we're looking like. I'm really happy with how it's turned out so far. I tried doing different thicknesses and textures and stuff across so that it didn't look perfect. Here is what it's looking like. Almost fully dried. I think it looks cute. Next up: paint.
