I'm 25, I've been a nurse for 3 years, I make over $110,000 a year and here's how I'm financially responsible but also live a very, very bougie lifestyle. Here we go. My 403b, which is equivalent to a 401k at most places. My job matches a very high percentage. I think it's at least 6%. So I max it out, whatever I can contribute to that, I am. I'm not super into stocks. I've had my years where I tried to get into investing and maybe I don't know enough, but here the things that I do do with my bank. I have a high yield savings account with Synchrony, where I keep 99% of my money because your money should literally never be sitting. You get at least 4% return a year. So if you just put all of your money there, you're making hundreds of dollars at least a year. So why not? Same concept, but I opened a CD. The issue with the CD is that you can't touch it. So you can open a CD for a different amount of time, six months, whatever it is, a year, and you cannot touch that money, but it accrues interest in your benefit. I shop at 99% thrift stores. I've done this for at least 10 years now. It's just my style. Why would I ever pay like, these crazy prices for my clothing, for my accessories, for home goods, nothing. I shop at thrift stores all the time. I'm always looking for different deals and specials at restaurants. If you're new to New England, we have See's the deal, which is a website and it gives you so many discounts to restaurants. You'll spend $25, you get a $50 gift card. Sometimes you spend $15, you get a $50 gift card. It's insane. So sometimes we'll do stuff like that. I have become an expert in booking vacation. I have for many years now. And so I save so much money when I travel. I'll make separate videos about this, but when you're traveling, you want to go to Expedia, do the flight and hotel package, but before you do this, you're going to go on Google Flights, you're going to make sure you find your dates, tell it the price for every day of the year, and then you're going to find your dates for that price, you're going to type that into Expedia and hotel package, and you're going to get sometimes 100% off of your flight. So you're going to save hundreds of dollars, maybe close to a thousand now. You can also redeem your points for gift cards and you get discounts on those gift cards. So it's even more money. I used to use Capital One, now I use Chase Sapphire Preferred, which is like the metal one. I absolutely love it. It's a $99 or $99 annual fee, and I've gotten hundreds and hundreds of dollars back, maybe close to a thousand now. And you can also redeem your points for gift cards and then you get discounts on those gift cards. So it's even more money.
