TALK TO STRANGERS PT 2 how to talk to anyone without feeling awkward 3 simple steps I'm gonna show you how to talk to anyone without feeling awkward in 60 seconds using these three really easy steps coming from someone who's hosted 40 plus events and has an insane network from New York rooftop parties to tech events in Seattle and SF something you have to realize is that everyone is probably thinking the same thing as you how do I start conversation how do I break this barrier so just be the one to initiate it and the way that I always do this is by asking questions. These are the three questions I usually ask: what brought you to [event]? where are you from? what's something you're looking forward to this week/what's the rest of your plans? and it's really beneficial because it shows that you're very curious about them, you care about the conversation that you're having and it leads me to my second point. 2. FIND SIMILARITIES where it helps you find similarities so that you're able to connect with the other person. Finding similarities also gives such an easy leeway for you to skip any small talk and immediately go deeper into the conversation. leads me to my last point. 3. BE VULNERABLE FOR DEEPER CONVERSATION which is be vulnerable with the person you're meeting cause you being vulnerable also helps the other person be vulnerable and then you're able to have a lot deeper conversations. One example of how I've done this in the past is if I'm at an event and I know no one and I figure out the other person also doesn't know anyone. I say something like oh my god, I was so nervous walking into the room. I was so anxious but I'm so glad I met someone I was able to talk to. It's just such an easy way to skip all the small talk and immediately go deeper. I definitely believe that being able to be more charismatic and having more meaningful conversations takes practice. So I'm gonna make this a series and make sure you can easily navigate any social situation by the end of it.
