Stop having awkward small talk. Stop having awkward small talk. Coming from someone who talks to everybody. If you hate the awkwardness of starting and having small talk, here's some tips. Because you can totally become the type of person who makes friends chatting to people everywhere they go. You just have to practice. Okay, starting off with number one, it is don't wait for the perfect moment. Picture this, somebody walks into an elevator and you wait like 10 seconds in silence and then all of a sudden start talking. It's kind of awkward because you've already went through the awkward silence and now you're talking. Versus the elevator doors open, as soon as they walk in, you start small talking. That's awkward silence and makes you look more friendly. Immediately you avoid the awkward silence and you automatically seem more friendly. Okay, next up, in my opinion, is the easiest thing to small talk about. It can literally just be common about things around you. Maybe that person gets into the elevator with a dog. Ask about their dog. Maybe a really good song comes on the elevator music. Talk about that. It helps small talk feel a lot less random because you're talking about something that's actually going on in the moment. And on top of that, it kind of avoids that awkward, how are you? How's it going? Because you're actually talking about something. Okay, next up, you want to try to seem interested rather than interesting. Everyone's natural instinct is to sound interesting because they think that's what will make people want to talk to them more. However, the opposite's actually true. Because people love talking about themselves. So if you can get really good at asking follow-up questions, digging deeper into what someone's already telling you, they will eat it up. They love telling you more. And like I said before, this is something that you need to practice. It's almost like a little rejection there. So practice because there will be some people that you try to talk to who won't want to talk to you. But that's totally normal and that is totally okay. 99.9% of the time when someone is short with you, it's because of their own things going on in their life. Maybe they're in a rush, maybe they're having a bad day. So if someone is short with you, remember that you have no clue what's going on in their life. Lastly for today, is literally just to smile more. Makes you seem more approachable, makes you seem more friendly. It's just good for the soul. Hope these help. Love you guys.
