The left would be so much better off if we focus more on educating people than cancelling them. The Eli Rallo situation just proves that perfectly. If you don't know, Eli Rallo is a popular influencer who's getting called out because she made a video basically insinuating that all immigrants are unskilled workers who are gonna mow lawns and clean toilets. She unfortunately did Kelly Osbourne herself. And while I do agree she could have been much more careful with her words and was unintentionally offensive, I don't think that the primary point of her argument is wrong. And I think we're spending a lot of energy on calling out the wrong types of people. Let's talk about her argument for a second. I do think she's correct that the immigrants who are complaining about, like, H1B and student visas who are more skilled or talented workers, are not those that are willing to fill the gap jobs that most Americans otherwise are not willing to do. So while it is harmful that she insinuated all immigrants are only capable of working lower wage, unskilled jobs, she's always been very politically active, speaking up for the right thing, telling her followers to vote and calling out other influencers who stay silent or are closet Republicans. And they exist. So while I think it's fine to call her out, like we have influencers complaining about no-name influencers signing into TikTok, and you're taking the time to make think pieces and hate videos after a girl who has used her platform for good. And liberals, we spend so much energy trying to cancel each other. If we all gave each other a bit more grace and came from a place of wanting to educate as opposed to cancel, we'd get a lot more done and get a lot more people on our side.
