Apparently Windows just installed a new app on your computer without you asking for it. What's going on? But first hit follow because I tell Microsoft when no means no. So the new app is called OneDrive Photos, and users started reporting this popping up on their PCs, apparently it rode in on a Windows or a OneDrive update. This new app duplicates that Windows already has. So let me get this straight. We've got two photos apps now, one that Microsoft shipped and one that we didn't ask for. Got it. But this is where it gets insane. You can remove it, except you have to uninstall OneDrive completely to do it. So Microsoft humans shielded this thing behind OneDrive. You can't make this stuff up. Oh, and Windows latest did some testing. OneDrive Photos automatically scans your system storage for photos. This app also scans your local photos without you ever signing in. And my gosh, the timing is incredible because six days before this app showed up, Microsoft publicly called out LG for silently installing software on your PC. I literally couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
