Most people don’t actually want healing. They want relief. There’s a difference. Relief says, “I just want the pain to stop.” Healing says, “I’m willing to understand why the pain has so much power over me.” If you’re ready to heal, don’t start by asking what they did. Start by asking yourself these three questions. 1. What am I still expecting from someone who has already shown me they may never give it? An apology? Closure? Accountability? Another chance? The longer your peace depends on someone else’s next decision… The longer you postpone your own healing. 2. What part of this breakup hurts the most? Be specific. Is it losing them? Or is it feeling rejected? Feeling abandoned? Feeling replaced? Feeling like you weren’t enough? Because those are very different wounds. You can’t heal what you refuse to name. 3. If they came back today… but nothing about them had actually changed… would I still say yes? Don’t answer with your loneliness. Answer with your wisdom. Because missing someone… And being safe with them… Are not the same thing. Here’s what I’ve learned. The people who heal the fastest aren’t the ones who feel the least amount of pain. They’re the ones who stop running from the questions that make them uncomfortable. Healing is not about finding better answers. It’s about becoming brave enough to ask better questions. Because the right question has the power to change your life. So I’ll leave you with one more: Are you trying to heal… Or are you just trying to hurt less? Your answer will tell you exactly where you are in your journey.
