Tesla's adaptive headlights use matrix LED technology to automatically adjust the light pattern while driving at night. Instead of simply switching between high and low beams, the system can control individual sections of the headlight, allowing it to reduce glare for other road users while continuing to illuminate the rest of the road. On compatible vehicles, the headlights can also swivel or reshape the beam to better follow bends and improve visibility around corners. The exact features available depend on the vehicle model, hardware, software version, and the regulations in the country where the car is used. On supported Tesla models, adaptive lighting can widen the beam at higher speeds, improve visibility on curved roads, and selectively dim parts of the high beam when oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead are detected, helping the driver see more of the road without dazzling others.
