Finally surprising my wife with her war room This room started off as a storage room, but I thought it makes the perfect space for her dates with Jesus. She always had some areas in the house where she could read, journal, and pray, but it wasn't her space. In our apartment, it was her beauty room slash combined office space, I set up spaces in her closet. She prays in our bedroom, the boys room, the backyard, the living room, the office, the car, all areas where she's been able to pray and seek Him but she never really had the space to build an altar to the Lord. And because these are all multi-purpose spaces, it's so easy to be thrown off or distracted. It's not easy to ask the Lord for peace while glancing over at the whiteboard with your incomplete to do list from last week. She was going to be working outside of the house for a few hours today, I was like, this is it. I'm finally going to give her the space that she can call her own. This is her "War Room". After having 5 kids, balancing marriage, parenting, business. and overcoming the hardest season of her life with postpartum depression last year, I need to make sure she had the space so she could fight, but also be filled. in the spirit as a warrior, but also come to Him as His little girl, His precious daughter, the apple of His eye. about entering into a space, knowing there's only one thing on the agenda, and that's to be with Jesus. To consecrate yourself, to die to your flesh, and really allow room for the Holy Spirit to speak. This is giving her the secret place her spirit has been longing for. Now time to surprise her. I guess you can say this is day 71 of trying to retire my wife. And recently, God put something on my heart. What does my wife being retired actually look like for her? Sure we can look forward to her resting her feet, laying back on the couch, finally reading that book she’s been trying to get to for a few months — all those things are great.. But I was reminded that true rest comes from the Lord. And what better way than to create a dedicated space for her to be able to do that without any distractions or disruptions. She’s always had areas of the house where she could read/journal and pray but it wasn’t her space. So I decided transform this room in our basement we’ve used as random storage over the years and finally give her that space she can call her own. This is her war room. I want her retiring to look like coming down here at any time of the day to spend time with God and just be in His presence. To be that little girl. His precious daughter whom He adores. And to give her one more thing to look forward to as she learns to lay her burdens down. And the best part is I didn’t have to buy anything new to do this, I just gathered what I found around the house and it came together better than I expected 😌 Stay tuned for her reaction in part 2 ☺️🙌🏼 @kathlynceleste
