Controversial rules in my relationship that I don’t think are controversial. We do our best not to reject the other person's bid for intimacy. Now, that said, we're both pretty good about reading the room if the other person is clearly not into it, we're not going to initiate. I personally feel that rejection can become habit very easily. When 90% of the time you get my engine revving a little bit, I'm happy to take a ride. We have both had dead bed in the past and we agree that it is a deal breaker for us. That's not to say that we've never told each other, of course we have. We just try to be really conscious of why we're saying no. We do not resolve conflict over text. This one was a learning curve for me because I came from a relationship where he exclusively resolved conflict over text. But now that I'm used to it, I can absolutely say that it's super nice not going back and forth, back and forth and having things misconstrued. You can't really understand each other's tone. It's honestly crazy how much faster things get resolved over the phone. We do not gossip about our relationship. If he and I have an issue that I know with complete confidence have worked out by the end of the night, why go to friends? He pissed me off because I actually want my friends and family to like my partner, and I don't want to permanently affect their opinion of him over something that is temporary. So if I don't need genuine feedback on an issue that I'm having with him, I don't tell anyone. I know too many people who constantly bitch and moan about their partner, like, why doesn't anyone like him? Because you don't seem like you like him.
