We're seeing Tom Holland all over our feeds. But did you know that Tom Holland does not support Palestine? And this is part of a larger observation I have about celebrity culture recently. Why is it okay when some celebrities stay quiet on global injustice? So it's not just Tom Holland who has said absolutely nothing about the Gaza conflict in three years. It's people like Bindy Irwin and Robert Irwin and Terry Irwin. The entire Irwin family. Super popular, seen as very wholesome, very good people, exactly like Tom Holland, though they've said nothing. David Attenborough is considered an incredible human being and a very good person, even though he said nothing. So these are all people who have haven't spoken out about American politics, about ice, about the safety of immigrants. These are people who haven't talked about the world order changing, who aren't standing up for racism or taxism publicly. And since I know you're gonna ask, Zendaya did one Instagram post that was kind of like, hey, this is because it is seen as better to say and do nothing than do most things right and a single thing wrong. Madness. We should care about citizens in Palestine too, very early on in the conflict, and then deleted it. And she said nothing since either. But the thing is, these people are all very well loved. No one has tried to cancel them, no one has said they should be saying these things, then done a mass smear campaign. Meanwhile, we have people like Taylor Swift who've taken a lot of flack for dating someone like Travis Kelci, who has said nothing and for saying nothing herself. People like Beyoncé take a lot of flack or Oprah Winfrey or, infamously, on this app, Elyse Meyers. There are a lot of people who say something less, more than nothing. They've tried to get involved a little bit in politics or donate or do something, but somehow it's not enough. And people get really angry that they haven't spoken out specifically and enough about Palestine or about other specific issues. And I'm the sort of influencer who's said where I stand on all of these things. I very early called what was happening in Palestine a genocide. And I speak out about politics every single day because it's what I do. But the reason I try not to judge celebrities too hard, as long as they're trying to create impact and they're at least doing something, is because I'm worried we're falling into a trap where we simply do not hold people to the same standards as other people. And it may seem arbitrary, but I think what it actually is, is that when celebrities try a little bit, people then slam them when they don't become perfect, because they think those celebrities are open to criticism, and so they feel like people we can bully. But people who simply never comment on anything and say nothing at all seem untouchable and seem like they won't care. They're better than that, and so nobody expects anything of them. I think that's unfair, because I absolutely think, and have said several times, that celebrities with their kind of brand power should do something about making the world a better place. Zendaya has talked about how she cares about animals. She's a vegetarian. She doesn't eat meat, yet she cares about. You know, she's. She's done some things, like with Black Lives Matter, and then she's just stayed silent on other things, so. Yeah. What do you think? Why are some celebrities given a pass, and we pillory other celebrities for doing exactly the same thing?
