It's just rage at a feeble excuse for a government and a wealth class scamming the everyman into an unshitified capitalist hellscape and they aim all of that at the nearest successful and happy woman because she's an elite after all so she'll do. Never mind the fact that the last time we went through the discourse cycle of is Taylor Swift an awful person, researchers found that one third of the discourse was being generated by less than 4% of accounts and those accounts were bots. Never mind the fact that there is no shortage of research that shows that we are more likely to view women as unlikable and untrustworthy in pretty much every pocket of culture because there's just something about her that I don't like. To others the Swift Rorschach test reveals not a monster but a saint and her to perform her activism which she used to do and we didn't like that so much either. I'm not interested in asking the question of is Taylor Swift doing enough to save society because it's a wholly useless question. Taylor Swift is not an elected official, she is not my pastor and unfortunately she is not my president. Obviously she holds influence. I think the more useful question we should be asking, how do we have bottomless rage for a woman whose entire public persona is platformed around making women and girls happy and not a drop for the powerful men who are deciding what those girls are even allowed to become? In all of the annoying discourse around this wedding, no one was talking about Travis Kelce. I never see people mobilizing in coordinated effective rage when the billionaires who are actually shaping our political landscape make explicitly clear what women's roles should be in a vision of their society. I think no one's interested in holding those guys accountable. So deeply interested in holding a woman accountable for crimes that she mostly hasn't committed simply by virtue of her being a successful artist who caters to women and girls. I ask it in earnest, why do we have such bottomless rage for a woman whose public persona mostly exists to make women and girls happy and not a drop of that same rage for the men who are deciding what those girls are allowed to be? And if you think that is a disingenuous question, if it was, every time I or any other creator posted here on this app, we would receive a deluge of questions about our own ethics and how we could possibly support Zuck or Ellison or any other billionaire by participating in the system, but we don't. No one asks me those questions nor should they because they are not the right questions that we should be asking but I am sure that my comments will be filled on this video with moral purists telling me how unvirtuous I must be as a progressive for not discoursing correctly about Taylor Swift.
