I started off the day with a workout, always prioritizing stretching and hip mobility and then I got a little leg day in. A good leg day always makes my back feel better when I'm working. Then I headed home, quickly got ready for the day and packed up my lunch and then packed up all my tools. I was working solo today because tomorrow we're going to be siding so today I just went over to the patio cover to prep everything and get everything out so we're ready to side first thing tomorrow morning. We had our framing inspection yesterday so we had to leave a portion of the beams exposed so the inspector could see the trust screws but we passed so I could finish freeing out all the beams and then I freed out all the posts to 12 by 12 because that's what the homeowner wanted. For all the blocking for the posts, I started out using fur, which is just regular dimensional lumber and everything kept splitting on me today. Luckily we had some leftover LSL scraps so I used a lot of that throughout. And if you don't know what LSL is, it's an engineered lumber and every single piece of it is straight and the same. It's literally perfect and the most amazing thing in the world. It is a little more expensive upfront, but it definitely saves you a bunch of time and material at the end of the day. We're actually going to be using LSL throughout our entire house build for that exact reason because we are all about saving time and materials and even though it's expensive upfront, it really does save you a bunch at the end of the day. I'm done with work for the day but I'm back at the lot now because the dig line was supposed to be here tomorrow to mark out all of our underground utilities, but I just found out that they can't come tomorrow. They said they'll be here Friday at the latest though. So we're just going to plan on digging this weekend. I brought some 2x6s with me. I'm just going to write our address on those and stake them in the ground and that should be good enough. Except I don't think they're going to be able to come tomorrow.
