We're building our first house at 25 years old

We're building our first house at 25 years old so we'll spend the day stripping concrete forms. I want to tell you how we got here. The idea to build really started when I realized with our construction background, we could build a house for the same amount of money we could buy one for, but we would have a lot more equity in it when we're done. Home building is also something that Porter and I both have grown up around because both of our parents actually built several of the houses that we lived in growing up. So when Porter and I decided to live together, we started looking at houses and then we found this lot and that was when we decided we were definitely gonna build. So then once we secured the lot, I designed our house from scratch and then we worked with the bank for financing, got our permit and broke ground on August 8th. So my dad started his own residential construction company in 2020 and I've been working for him for almost 5 years now. I started out as a framer. So his company C4 Structures is our general contractor and we're gonna be doing a lot of the work ourselves to save money and build equity. We also have a lot of experienced people in our corner helping us.
