I made a paper mache bumblebee. My goal was to make it really round and cute because I actually love bees. I started with a cardboard base and bunched up newspaper to get the form. Then covered it with strips of chipboard. Next came paper mache. I made the wings out of tracing paper and then colored on the tracing paper with prism colors. I used joint compound to get it nice and smooth. Then sanded it and painted it. The fan brush is my best friend for this fuzzy texture. I also painted highlights on the tracing paper wings. I gave the wings sort of a spine using chipboard from pirates booty boxes that made them strong enough to stand apart from the body.
