I have been divorced and single for three years now. And you know what keeps me up at night? Surprisingly, it's not the loneliness. It's realizing just how expensive it is to choose to be single in this economy. I see so many posts about divorced single women sharing their frustrations in dating and how, how lonely and how just exhausted they feel when dating and why no one seem to want to commit to a relationship. But how come no one is talking about how expensive it is to actually choose to be single? Coming from a two income household and then moving to a single income household? Well, now for me, income because I have been unemployed for two years now. Close to two years now. So, yeah, so that is what's keeping up me up at night. It's the fear. It's the fear that what if I can't afford to live the lifestyle that I want for myself anymore? What if I can't find a buyer to my house and start my farm life? And worse, what if I can't find a job while I'm trying to sell my house? What if my savings run out? I don't have a safety net. And that is probably what I miss from being in a relationship, which is obviously not a good reason to be in a relationship. It's the safety net. It's the safety net. When I was married, I never had to worry about whether it's career or personal or anything that happens in my life. I knew that I had a husband who will look after me, whatever happens, right? But now I don't have that and the thing is I have a dog who relies on me and my biggest fear sometimes is like, hopefully Bruce doesn't get sick that it's something serious that will cost me a lot because because that will I do not even want to right now because like I no and that's just my worry for my dog. What more for single women out there who are single mothers? They have to feed, they have to educate. Let's not go there because like I think I'm gonna spiral into like depression of thinking and worrying about this women do I regret getting a divorce? Of course not. I love my single life. I love living alone and just living in peace and quiet. It's just that the reality of life is living has a cost. Living comes with expenses. And so that is my biggest fear right now. It's the fact that I do not have a safety net in partner. Luckily, I have always been independent and resourceful. So, so yes, I might not have a safety net in partner, but obviously I'm gonna find ways to find that safety net elsewhere. I just wanted to put it out there that, yes, dating is frustrating. Sometimes it can be lonely. But why are we not talking about how expensive it is to be single? Like, how are you doing it out there? Tell me.
