Deciding what to do with a flopped hydrangea is always a hard choice to make. You can stake, but for a large plant, that gets less and less practical as the plant size increases. You can leave it alone, but you risk stems hardening into their flopped position, which can be a problem for future pruning. Or you can try to relieve some of the heaviest weight and get some of the stems more upright in advance of your late winter/early spring pruning.
