What is LCD vs LED vs OLED? So what's LCD? Just a bunch of pixels on a screen. What's LED? Also a bunch of pixels on a screen. What about OLED? You're not gonna believe this. What? It's a bunch of pixels. You're not funny. Okay, so, You know screens have pixels. You do know that, right? It's just a bunch of tiny squares that light up a color. When you zoom out, a full picture. But what is the difference LCD, LED and OLED, and which one you choose? What kind of TV should I get? Depends on what your budget is. Why would I buy an LCD? 'Cause you're old, it's really outdated technology. Okay, then why would I buy an LED TV? 'Cause it's cheap, it works. Then what's mini LED? Works a little better. How about OLED? That is the best. That will be $2,000. Jeez. So LCD is a bunch of liquid crystals or pixels, and then you shine a backlight through them and the pixels decide what color to show. For example, to show the color red, the pixel would be red. And LCD TV uses fluorescent tubes for backlight. An LED TV uses LED for backlight. But the problem with using a backlight is if you have a dark scene? How do you make it black? The backlight is always on. That is why OLED is the best! Cause OLED has no backlight. Each tiny pixel produces its own light and color. So certain pixels can be completely off to give true blacks. And that's why they're the most expensive, but the best.
