I'm giving my brain away Hi, I'm TT I'm 30 years old and living with ALS week, I'm talking about the things people usually don't want to talk about One of the decisions I've made is to donate my brain to science after I die That still feels weird to say out loud But honestly, it gives me peace After death, researchers can study donated brain and nervous system tissue alongside someone's medical history to learn more about diseases like ALS They may look at things like how ALS damages motor neurons, genetic changes, and why the disease progresses differently from person to person And knowing that my brain could someday be a part of that research means a lot to me ALS has already taken so much from my body So there's something powerful about knowing that even after I'm gone, my body could still help researchers understand the disease that changed my life Maybe they will learn something from me Maybe my donation helps answer one small question maybe that answer becomes part of something that helps another person or another family someday I may never get to see what comes from it That part is hard But if part of me can keep helping after I'm gone then I want it to I can't control having ALS, but I can choose what I leave behind
