THINGS THAT PISS ME OFF WORKING IN THE MINES AS A MUM OF THREE because I gave you the reasons I love it. so here's the other side THE HOURS 12.5 hour shifts are actually criminal Work is basically your entire day Some days I leave before my babies wake up and get home when they're already asleep WHEN YOUR KIDS GET SICK Why do babies ALWAYS get sick when you're on swing??? 7 days off? Thriving First day back at work? Someone's coughing. Someone's vomiting. Someone needs a doctor. Like clockwork x ngi I'm not HR's favourite employee for this reason Apparently my attendance has stopped me from progressing further at work And look, I get it. I get it attendance matters. But one thing I've learnt since becoming a mum is that parenting isn't linear. Kids get sick. Things happen. Sometimes I need to take the day off. I'll choose my babies every single time. ❤️ TODDLERS AT HOME... TODDLERS AT WORK 🤪 Having 3 toddlers actually prepared me pretty well for working in mining Because some days, some people at work are harder to deal with than the toddlers waiting for me at home At least my toddlers have the excuse of being toddlers x NIGHT SHIFT Night shift when you have little kids is HUMBLING. Trying to sleep during the day while three toddlers are living their absolute best lives... sleep is a luxury honestly 0/10 experience x Being a woman in mining is all fun and games until you have to use a porta-loo 💀 And after 3 babies, unfortunately the bladder does NOT bladder like she used to I've peed in places I swore I never would. But when you gotta go, you gotta go 🫠 Sometimes it feels like being a mum is held against you. Kids get sick. Appointments happen. Life happens. And sometimes it feels impossible trying to be a "good employee" AND the mum I want to be. My babies will win every single time though ❤️ And after all that... would I still choose mining? Yeah 😂 There's plenty that pisses me off, but right now the roster, money & opportunities it gives our family still outweigh the negatives.
