One of the best things about being a lawyer is working with GREAT PEOPLE. But, sometimes relationships don’t work out. Here are five signs that the partner hates you… or if not hates you, doesn’t know how to work with juniors: 1. Radio silence. The partner goes unresponsive for days, and when they do surface, it’s an immediate turnaround with unreasonable hours and no prior notice. 2. Zero mentorship / feedback. Instead of constructive words, they give blunt feedback or refuse to review you work properly. They negatively criticise with no tips on how to improve. 3. Throwing you under the bus. They push you on a client facing call without preparing you or make you take the blame. Crap work should roll downhill, and responsibility uphill. 4. Mood swings. They alternate between being cold and intense snap reactions. May include shouting, passive aggressiveness. No warmth in their tone or approach. 5. No invites. They don’t invite you to client dinners or events despite you working on the client matters. They don’t organise dinners with you, coffee sessions - ways of getting to know you outside the office. The onus might be on the junior, but the partner should be receptive. #lawyer #biglaw #partner #lawyersoftiktok
