A dethatcher is generally shallower and more focused on pulling loose material out of the canopy, while a scarifier is more aggressive and creates grooves that expose soil. So in simple terms: scarifying can dethatch, but dethatching doesn’t necessarily scarify. It's time to give my side yard some love. I've been asked a lot what this is. This is an electric and it says aerator. And it says aerator, but it's not. It's a dethatcher. It's a dethatcher and if anything else, it's a scarifier. It's a scarifier, which is kind of the the bottom of these. The bottom of these are going to be these metal tines. This is what a scarifier spike would look like. You would see metal by definition. By definition, dethatching. But what this runs. It runs these metal tines all the way through the soil and it'll pick up dead grass and it'll pick up dead grass debris, organic material. Organic material that would otherwise be sitting on top of the soil layer, in between that and the grass canopy. That would prevent proper air flow, moisture, nutrients. Nutrients in some cases to get down to the soil, the roots properly. So if left untreated, a thick layer can be detrimental to that area's turf grass. Think of it as suffocating it. So this will help us remove that thatch that's been building up all season long and give it our turf a chance to breathing. And did one pass. I can tell that we're gonna need to do this over here as well. So here. As well. So here. I think you can understand why this might be important because a lot of this was hidden before. Here's what it look like. And here's what it look like now. You can do this in spring or early fall for cool season. And especially do it when you're to create proper seed to soil.
